My Most Reverend Father
You order me to expose in writing the desire I have of going to the barbarian missions. I do it in the english language that you may see, as I hope, I know it enough to understand it, ant to be understood.
But my desire is not now as it was when I expose it to you, because the good hope you gave me has fired it so, that I can scarse think of heaven to the poor americans.
Then I entreat you almost that when you entertain yourself sweetly with our God you cast an eye upon those wretched souls who are to be separated for ever from their God, and then to consider the desire of Jesus Christ, and their Guardian Angels, and if you please also mine. With an order you can satisfy all these desires, and the sooner you will vouchsafe to give that order the more souls will be obliged to you for their eternal felicity.
Unworthy Servant in Christ
