&lt;p&gt;&lt;span&gt;Sono parecchi anni che io sento di continuo nel cuore una ispirazione di tutto consecrarmi al Divino Servizio nelle Missioni straniere; ne scrissi son già tre anni a nostro Padre, ma niuna risposta né direttamente né indirettamente ho mai ricevuto; diressi poscia una lettera al passato Segretario Padre Janssen, ed ebbe lo stesso effetto; ne ho parlato altresì col Padre Provinciale, ma finora non ho veduto splendere pur un raggio di speranza, ora finalmente, dacché questa ispirazione leva più alto la voce nel mio cuore, ho fermato di volgermi a lei, e spero non indarno. Io ho già 28 anni, son di forze robusto, conosco un po’ di Francese, e d’Inglese, sarei pronto a partire anche adesso, se ciò fosse voler dei Superiori, compiendo gli studi, e rendendomi pratico della lingua che fosse per me necessaria; la prego però di parlare al Padre Generale, perché abbia almeno un fil di speranza a che potermi appoggiare. Egli è vero che avvi in me difetto di quelle virtù vere, e solide di che ha mestieri chi si accinge a quest’ardua impresa: ma se Dio è quegli che mi chiama potrò tutto avvalorato dalla onnipotenza del suo braccio.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&#13;
