<p>È questa la prima volta, che ho l’onore di scriverle, e spero di non esserle molesto; essendo che questa mia non contiene, che una dimanda assai discreta quanto può esserlo questa, che V<em>ostr</em>a paternità si compiaccia d’adempiere un mio antico desiderio di portarmi alle parti straniere, affin di ajutare nell’anima qualche popolo che più ne abbisogni questo desiderio, come diceva, è in me antico; che poi non l’abbia mai esposto cagion ne sono state varie vicende, che mi consigliavano più a pensare alla perfezione propria, che alla salute altrui. Ora mi è paruto di non differirlo più oltre; atteso che mi si sono aggiunte nuove spine al cuore, a cui mi par che non possa resistere senza colpa. Ma dove, […] in qual parte di mondo andrò a fermarmi? Io mi sento disposto ad andare dove che V<em>ostr</em>a paternità giudichi, che sia maggiore il bisogno; ma se pure mi si permette la scelta, io ho sempre vagheggiato l’Egitto, e la Nuova Olanda; ah […] de’ due mi sento più portato. Voglio nondimeno aggiungere, che io mi sento disposto a viaggiare così, come suol dirsi all’Apostolica, e senza viatico, ed affidato unicamente a quella provvidenza da cui credo, che venga la chiamata; onde se V<em>ostr</em>a paternità non avesse mezzi pronti per qualche spedizione può avvalersi di me. che io mi sento cuore di tutte […] al mio signore cui solo amore mi […] non ho altro da aggiungere; il resto le dirò al signore nel secreto del mio cuore, […] se l’spirazione à sua non la lasci andar senza effetto.
