Confesso che conoscendo le moltissime mie mancanze me ne reputo indegno, ma dall’altro canto confido assai nel Signore Iddio, che non lascia mai in tempo degli esercizii Spirituali, e nell’ora della giornaliera meditazione di farmi conoscere la sua volontà. Per altro io non mi assicurava, che questi interni desiderii fossero da Dio, ma mi ci son confermato al vedere, che dopo aver comunicata la cosa co’ miei Superiori Rettori, e Provinciali, tutti mi hanno approvata l’intenzione, e mi hanno confortato a fomentare l’ispirazione divina. Pertanto ho preso animo di venire a’ piedi di Vostra Paternità ad offerirle con tutto il calore la mia inutile persona, sia nel fare il forniere (che è l’arte da me esercitata nel secolo), sia nel fare il cuoco (ciò che anche ho esercitato in compagnia), o in qualunque altra cosa mi conosca abile. Son pronto con l’aiuto di Dio a qualunque fatica, ed a qualsivoglia patimento, purchè possa ottenere questa singolarissima grazia di essere da Vostra Paternità trascelto a servire le missioni.
