Già prima di entrar nella Compagnia avea disposto, d’impiegar le fatiche, ed i giorni miei in questa lodevolissima occupazione, ed entrai nella Compagnia con questa intenzione, udendo che molti ne spedivano i Gesuiti nelle nazioni degli infedeli. Sono già quasì quattro anni che mi trovo per grazia di Dio nella Compagnia, ed i miei desideri sempre continuarono. Tutti gli anni le dimando al Reverendo Padre Provinciale nel rendimento di conto. Due volte fui infermo gravemente, e questo pensiero mi stava sempre d’innanzi agli occhi, nè mi pareva vero, che il Signore mi desse tanto vivi desideri, e poi non mi volesse suo missionario. Tutte e due le volte ricuperai in breve non solo la sanità, ma ancora le pristine forze, credo io, acciocchè servissi il Signore nelle missioni. Ora sto bene, e se mi esercitassi in fatiche di camminare eccetera ritornerei ad acquistare quella pristina sanità, e forze, per cui non soffriva a fatica, ed incommodo alcuno, e ne’ primi 20. anni di mia età, non ebbi bisogno di star in letto neppure un giorno intero. Studio il primo anno di Filosofia, il secondo potrei ripeterlo da me in quest’anno stesso per far più presto: quello che desidererei si è di far intera la Teologia per rendermi più utile a miei prossimi. Non giudichi Vostra Paternità che io le scriva queste cose, perchè non sia rassegnatissimo alla divina volontà manifestatami da miei Superiori: no. Le espongo affinchè tutto il mio interno sia manifesto, conforme alla regola, nè credo in ciò di commettere difetto alcuno. Del resto: fiat semper voluntas Dei. Quando sento, o caro Padre, leggere nelle missioni straniere, che qualche popolo dimanda missionarii, ogni momento mì si fa un anno d’andarvi. Ma non posso far altro, che Rogare Dominum messis, e dirgli: mitte operarios in messem Tuam. Lamentarmi dolcemente, ed amorosamente usando a ciò le parole di San Paolo: Quomodo evangelizabunt nisi mittantur. Finalmente pieno di confidenza non nelle mie forze, ma nella sua grazia, ripetere a Lui, e come a suo ministro a Vostra Paternità Ecce ego mitte me.
