Padre Francesco Obrompalski~ Molto Reverendo in Cristo Padre Pax Christi Appena arrivò in Roma il Padre du Bouisson, subito, dopo esser mi consigliato col Padre Rossini, mi portai al Gesù dal detto padre, e a lui mi offrii per la missione Americana. Egli dopo avermi fatte alcune interrogazioni, mi accettò molto volentieri, e promise di parlar con Vostra Paternità di questo affare. Dopo qualche tempo seguì la partenza del detto padre per Vienna, indi a non molto la mia per Tivoli, e cosi non mi fu possibile di riparlare e di sentir quale fosse la risposta decisiva di Vostra Paternità. Io conservo tutt’ora il medesimo desiderio, di accompagnar, cioè, il detto padre, e di faticar quanto potrò nella vigna del Signore, purche tale sia la volontà di Vostra Paternità. Dalla mia venuta in Italia ho sentito questo desiderio per andar alle Missioni, mi sono offerto a Vostra Paternità in iscritto per qualunque parte del mondo, piu volte ho rinnovato, stando a Roma, la’ mia domanda a voce; Vostra Paternità mai ha riggettatto le mie suppliche, ma sempre per bontà sua, mi fece sperar bene. – Egli è purtroppo vero che mi manca il meglio, cioè, la virtù, che deve avere un buon missionario; lo conosco molto bene, e il confesso ingenuamente; ma mi vien in mente che, trovandomi nelle circostanze in cui si trovano i missionarj, mi butterò nelle mani della Provvidenza di Dio, e quella, spero non mi abbandonerà. Gia da qualche mese sto studiando lingua Inglese, colla speranza che essa mi sarà necessaria. La Francese mi par di sapere sufficientemente. // Vostra Paternità solo, come interprete della volontà di Dio, può ridurre ad effetto questi miei desiderj, esaudendo benignamente le mie suppliche.
