<p>Con le più umili maniere vengo a far noto alla Molto R<em>evere</em>nda Vostra Paternità, il desiderio in me sorto di propagare la luce dell'Evangelio in barbare regioni. A ciò m'ha spinto non la brama d'essere ora mandato, ma solo in qualche modo il dovere di farne conscia Vostra Paternità onde mi abbia presente, e disponga di me.</p>
<p>Ho però a soggiungere che sono del tutto indifferente ad operar quel che Vostra Paternità <em>in Domino</em> meglio sarà per giudicarne, ancorchè disponga dover'io restare dove che sia per tutta la vita coadjutore nell'uffizio più vile e più basso, sapendo bene esser questo l'uffizio che Dio allora vorrebbe da me, come più utile e più giovevole alla mia eterna salute.</p>
<p>Con ogni umiltà Le bacio la' mano, e chiedendole la S<em>anta</em> Benedizione ho il bene di segnarmi.</p>
