&lt;p&gt;Avendo quindi messo di nuovo ad esame in questo triduo per la rinnovazione dei voti questo mio desiderio, ed avendo anche avuto occasione qualche tempo fa di trattenermi col Vescovo che risiede nello Schantung, se non erro, e quindi d'informarmi su varie particolarità di quella Missione, mi sono vieppiù confermato nel desiderio già concepito, e nei motivi che m'inducono a farne domanda.&lt;/p&gt;&#13;
&lt;p&gt;V&lt;em&gt;ostra&lt;/em&gt; P&lt;em&gt;aternità&lt;/em&gt; sa quanto anche i nostri antichi Padri stimassero conveniente che si facessero gli studj nel luogo stesso della Missione, ciò che V&lt;em&gt;ostra&lt;/em&gt; P&lt;em&gt;aternità&lt;/em&gt; vorrebbe effettuare dappertutto se le circostanze il permettessero. Io spero che il Padre Gothland, o qualche altro Padre di colà mi farà la carità in qualche ritaglio di tempo di spianarmi qualche difficoltà che naturalmente dovrò incontrare nello studio. Del resto io non ignoro le strettezze in cui vivono i Padri della Cina, e confido che essi non saranno per isdegnare quei benchè deboli servigi, che sarò in grado di poter prestar loro anche nel tempo de' miei studj.&lt;/p&gt;&#13;
