&lt;p&gt;Già due volte ho umiliato in iscritto la mia domanda alla Paternità Vostra d'esser mandato in America, e la terza volta, che ebbe la bontà d'ascoltarmi a voce alla occasione, che partiva il P&lt;em&gt;adre&lt;/em&gt; Nobili, me ne fece concepire una qualche speranza.&lt;/p&gt;&#13;
&lt;p&gt;Io non ne ho giammai dimesso il pensiero, ed a tal fine oltre il pregare il Signore; nella scorsa estate m'occupai alcun poco nella lingua inglese.. Mi sentii fortemente spinto altra volta a rinnovar la domanda, e specialmente prima che partisse il Padre Mulledy: e debbo confessarlo fu amore della patria fu amore di comodi etcetera che mi trattenne. Anche ora sento ripugnanza; ma jeri ed oggi nella orazione mi sono inteso rimproverare siccome altra volta dalla coscienza la mia piccolezza di cuore ed [attacco].&lt;/p&gt;&#13;
&lt;p&gt;In punto di morte mi sentirei assai malcontento di aver taciuto: mi sembra adunque un dovere di rinnovare la domanda alla Paternità Vostra la voce sua è la voce di Dio &lt;em&gt;ecce ego mitte me&lt;/em&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&#13;
&lt;p&gt;Sulle difficoltà per parte del P&lt;em&gt;adre&lt;/em&gt; Van Everbroek, a cui ora tutto è celato e nascostissimo, penserò io stesso: rapporto poi alla Provincia poco perde, mentre continuando nello attuale stato io in nulla la giovo.&lt;/p&gt;&#13;
