<p>È già gran tempo che sento nel mio cuore un desiderio, il quale avendo bisogno di maturità, ho tardato fino ad ora di manifestare alla Paternità Vostra. Ora finalmente il fò assai volentieri col permesso del mio P<em>adre</em> Spirituale. Questo desiderio adunque si è, di non tenermi tra gli angusti confini dell'Europa, a spargere a suo tempo le mie deboli fatiche; ma di portarmi in qualunque parte del mondo, a farvi conoscere il mio Dio, ad aprire a molte anime le porte del Paradiso, e a chiuder loro quelle dell'Inferno. Nel resto quel Dio che si è degnato di darmi questo fervente desiderio, senza dubbio mi somministrerà eziandio forze spirituali, e corporali necessarie a così santa impresa. Ed ecco di qual grazia io nela voleva pregare: ed oh! fosse pure che tra brieve si potesse dar compimento a questo mio desiderio.</p>
