Attendeva in verità il suono di quella tromba, che ora Vostra Paternità ne ha fatto sentire, onde rinnovare le mie istanze. Eccomi dunque a' suoi cenni, se di tanta grazia il Signore per mezzo suo mi volesse far degno che se non mi credesse abile per la Cina, le vaste campagne di America non rifiuterebbono al certo questo quantunque inetto agricoltore. Ora egli per mezzo mio supplica alla Paternità Vostra di bel nuovo ad esaudirlo, e le manifesta le ardenti sue brame per le missioni suddette. Questo Fratello esercita l'ufficio di sartore, e di barbiere ed eziandio quello d'infermiero, nel quale mostra molto valore. È egli un'esimio salassatore, conosce diverse cose di medicina pratica, da sa sè stesso comporre varî medicamenti in guisa che questi medici, che l'hanno conosciuto ne fanno molta stima; onde più d'uno di essi ammiratane la capacità s'è offerto a volerlo istruire di vantaggio circa la medicina, o chirurgia pratica. Laonde se fosse un poco più istruito in questo genere, sembra che non poco utile tornar potrebbe a quelle missioni di America.
