&lt;p&gt;Prostrato a piè della Paternità Vostra Molto Reverenda espongo il desiderio che ho per la Missione della Cina: il sentire che in questi giorni si è aperta in quel regno la via al Cristianesimo me ne ha acceso maggiormente la brama. Conosco la mia inabilità ed insufficienza per un si alto Ministero, e perciò avea rossore a fare alla Paternità Vostra Molto Reverenda una tal petizione, ma ho voluto vincermi ed ho voluto manifestarlo alla Paternità Vostra Molto Reverenda per non aver quindi il rimorso d'averlo taciuto. Eccomi pertanto tutto nelle mani della Paternità Vostra Molto Reverenda pronto per qualunque servigio piu basso in quella Missione, e se mi mandasse in conto di fratel compagno de' Missionari oh quanto sarei io felice e contento di offerire cosi tutte le mie forze e la vita stessa per fine sì santo. Lo stato di mia sanità in apparenza è debole, in realtà però è sincero, e poi oh me beato se potessi sacrificare la vita per la salute delle anime.
