<p>Avendo inteso che il P<em>adre</em> D'Avalos possa ormai essere giunto a Roma, supplico V<em>ostra</em> P<em>aternità</em> di permettere, che io Le rinnovi le mie umili preghiere, ond'Ella si degni di accordarmi la grazia della missione al Quito, se questo è per maggior gloria di Dio, e per salute della mia e delle altrui anime. La disposizione da Lei mostrata di esaudir le mie suppliche, colla sua veneratissima dello scorso Gennajo, mi conforta a ripeterne le istanze, scorgendo in quella le traccie della divina volontà sopra di me. Chè del resto, per quantunque vive pieno, mercè l'ajuto di Dio, le mie brame delle missioni straniere, mi par nondimeno di trovarmi colla divina grazia in una sincera indifferenza per qualunque comando mi venisse dalla P<em>aternità</em> V<em>ostra</em> intimato.
